A leftover stump is more than an eyesore. It's a mower-wrecker, a trip hazard, a termite invitation and the reason a whole section of lawn can't be levelled or replanted. We grind stumps out below ground level so the area can be filled, turfed or built over and forgotten about.
In the Whitsundays we're mostly dealing with palms, mango and poinciana in the older residential streets, and hardwood and scrub regrowth on rural blocks. Palms grind out easily; a mature hardwood with a wide root plate is a much bigger commitment, and coastal sand versus heavy valley clay changes how the machine works too.
Access decides a lot. A stump in an open front yard is straightforward, one behind a narrow side gate on a sloping Airlie block needs smaller gear and more time. We check all of that before quoting so the price you're given is the price of the actual job.
How much does stump grinding cost?
Every job is quoted individually and the quote is free.
The diameter and species of the stump set the baseline — a soft palm and a seasoned hardwood are not comparable.
How deep you need it taken down matters: turfing over needs less depth than replanting or building.
Access and slope affect which machine we can get in, and soil type and buried rock slow the grind.

Frequently asked questions
How deep do you grind the stump?
Below ground level, deep enough for what you're doing with the space afterwards. Tell us if you plan to turf, replant or pave and we'll grind to suit.
Do you remove the grindings?
We can take them away or rake them back into the hole, whichever you'd prefer. Most people leave them in when they're turfing over.
Will the surrounding lawn get damaged?
There's some disturbance right around the stump, but we protect the surrounding turf and clean up before we leave. Access routes are planned to avoid marking soft ground.
Can you grind multiple stumps in one visit?
Yes, and it's usually more efficient than separate visits. Send Jesse a photo or a count when you call.
